Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. – Jer 29:7

5th meeting summary

Last nights Revival Meeting was amazing. We had another spontaneous healing of a mans back which had been spasming for over a week! We are shaping up so well. Many people are reporting small miracles in their lives. We had a big miracle as we met together the previous week that we all experienced. Gods Kingdom is coming – and most crucially everyone is beginning to grasp who we are and how to LOOSE/PROCLAIM His Kingdom. Something very amazing is breaking through. Thank You Jesus!!

4th meeting – short summary

God did it again. Yowsers. Last nights revival meeting was so good. I preached… and at the end of the message i thought i had been speaking for just over an hour but it was 2 hours!!!! no one felt it. time just flew.

I thought i was speaking about faith but as i spoke scripture unravelled for ME as well!!  I was speaking about the Kingdom of God! None of us had ever seen this stuff before. The atmosphere in the room changed. It was amazing.

We then began to declare and pray collectively over each of us according to what the bible said. each of us got blessed and got some freedom.

And we had supper together… curry. Yum. We had a wood fire going. I thought we had departed completely from what we were meant to be doing… but in fact God was running the show and we were right where we needed to be.

We stopped at 1:30am and I managed to get into bed at 4am. These meetings are always different and always amazing. Thank You Jesus!!!

Third meeting on 31 May 2013

Once agsin I came into the meeting with my tyranny of time guide – see below – and once again things happen more or less in line but the times were waaaay out. Im too goal oriented and God is FAR more interested in what is happening BETWEEN PEOPLE than keeping to any schedule.

Let me say again, my understanding of this guide is changing, its most useful when it is used to

1. remind me of what the Holy Spirit said to do… for example open the meeting with an audio of 25 mins of prophetic words over Cape Town… and break it into 5 min chunks so we can talk about what is standing out to us individually
2. remind all who want to read or who listen what we are about, what our values are, what we expect to happen… keeping the main thing the main thing… not getting distracted by new ideas and fads
3. to record and keep alive any prophetic words or visions that God gives us… to keep believing them in order to receive them.

So my thinking is shifting… the guideline is not about time, its about keeping a “shape” and keeping identity and keeping the main thing the main thing.

Once again we went waaaaaay over time… 2am this time. And whereas last week 3 people were almost asleep, this week no one was was even sitting down when we ended!  🙂

Last week they dozed during worship. This week the worship music was background and we prayed at the same time. Then one of us felt led to do foot washing. We prayed for certain people. Lots of words of encouragement.

I dont mean to trivialise this… but I can see how servant leadership really works so well to lift other people up.

We are doing VERY LITTLE intercession. And we have not yet done any repentance.

But we are gaining identity and forming strong  horizontal connections. God is speaking through people and saying that we need to be praying during the week for one another so thst we dont start on friday from a zero base.

We had two financial miracles during this week… we prayed for those two people last week. We also had our first spontaneous healing of a hamstring, a lady had severe pain and she forgot her painkillers… and was healed as she sat there.

When I showed a clip of Jesus Christs resurrection and the revival of Pentecost, thst same lady was WOWed when she saw the holes in His hands. She had revelation and the story became real for her in that moment. Its anazing to watch people grow!

At times Gods Presence was really there in a big way, simply in response to our faith.

David Wagners prophetic words about Cape Town totally blew peoples hair back. Its our destiny to bring these words to fulfillment in this city.

The video clip about the Two Moravian Missionaries seemed to have a VERY powerful impact. The way they totally sold out.

I try to let God choose the clips. I edit and chop the good bits out as I feel led.

Each week I ask people what they enjoyed the most. Being male I loved the healing and visions and prayer… but interestingly… one of the new ladies said the thing which MOST stood out for her was the sharing and the community, another new lady said she doesnt usually talk but she felt safe and she could talk and share… this tells me we are loving one another!

I keep emphasizing to the group that IF we love His people THEN He will send more of His people. Thats the deal. We must love one another. And keep the main thing the main thing… God… Jesus Christ… the Holy Spirit… God our Father.

Eating together is very social. I make a soup… very thick… a slow cooker, cabbage, pumpkin, bacon, carrots, potatoes… let it slow cook for a day. Serve with rolls. Have lots of cooldrink.. we went through 6L for 7 people. But we were there from 7pm to 2am… 7 hours.

We had 7 people. I had a feeling we would not have growth this week, but I have a feeling we will grow next week. I feel the people were hand picked by God.

It is SO WONDERFUL to watch people blossom… to see empty people become filled not just with God through prayer, but filled with hope because people are sharing and people are listening when they share. Its so important to value people. To hear their story. To recognise them. To wait for them. To be respectful.

But also to set boundaries. Public prayer cant go on and on and on leaving everyone else to wait and wait. Thats inconsiderate.

The victory of my tyranny of time is almost complete. I see that what is happening between people is very important. And not just between people… people are bringing each other to God… just like those friends lowered the man through the roof to Jesus Christ. Do you know what?? I just got that. I get it now!  🙂

I was honest with people and told them that I had a tough week and I really needed their prayers.

Revival Meeting
31 May 2013, Friday
Evening guide
7:00 Open with David Wagner 16th Feb prophecy for Cape Town “God is making you a Holy Habitation region” + chat about it – God said to open with this
7:30 Opening dedication prayer by me + thank Dave for having us + what we are about

Visitation on 21st May, Tuesday
*  We are here to bring revival… to change our lives and our city. We do this through our focus on prayer (intercession) and not by focussing on revival. Revival is a result of our prayers.
*  Everyone to strengthen one another, in particular the newest ones, build them up, horizontal connections between us. stand firm together… Dave and I needed your prayers this last week
*  To gather around and welcome new people and to actively explain our strategies to them. New people must not change our course by bringing new ideas. God has set our course: intercession to break through.
*  Our meetings start with the same explanation each week. Who we are. Why we are here. What God has in store. Its repetitive but its necessary to manage growth.
*  The bible says for everyone to bring something. (Not necessarily food or cooldrink.) Prophetic words or encouragement or sharing is welcome.
*  If we all take care of His people, horizontal connections, He will send more people.

Prophetic words about us
*  Juanitas vision: A circle of fire (the Holy Spirit) going out from here… we must believe in order to receive

8:00 supper + intros from everyone… 2 minutes each maximum pls… the purpose of this is to make newcomers feel welcome… We prayed for some ppl last week… has anyone experienced some results of the prayer?
8:30 Short movies + chat + individual prayer time + corporate repentance + time of worship, 53 mins of music

Second meeting 24 May 2013

I think it is good to create a guideline for the evening. In it I can record the things that the Holy Spirit has told me to do. I can remember to tell people the key messages – that people need to be loved, for example – and I can keep the main thing the main thing.

But as before, my tyranny of time got totally blown out. By 7:15 we were meant to be watching video clips aimed at inspiring us to understand revival and intercession… instead people chatted and prayed and we only got to that by 8:20!  🙂  And it was so good. Im having to let go and be ok with this.

But the bonding is so important. God wants a place where He can send His people and they will be loved and healed and strengthened. If we all will love the new people, He will send more of His people to us. THAT is the key to growth. I feel that time and time and time again.

We stayed until 1:30am!

Below you will see that I told them about the visitation that I had during the week. During that time several things were impressed into me.

We didnt get around to repentance on any of the nights so far. I always make a point of honoring David for letting us use his house.

I felt to open the evening with a eedication prayer and do it ON MY KNEES. Well… I did it… but struggled to do that on my knees on public. But I did it. And as I prayed I saw Gods power and Presence in the room.

God brought His people. We had 9 people. One of whom is very prophetic and it was amazing to see God in action. God affirmed my role as leader and that was reassuring. And I think it was good for others to see God confirming what is happening.

We had a vision of fire spreading through the group and then beyond the group and more people coming. I keep reminding everyone of Heb 4:2 that we must not just hear but we must believe and then it will happen.

I keep a record of key things people say, as they say it. Not everything, but words and visions etc. I think this is useful and I think it helps people to know their words are valued.

We prayed for two people to have financial miracles and both of them did get them in the next week.

First meeting in March – guideline

This was the very first meeting. Before Easter. I made this as a guide for the evening… but its just a guide, if the Holy Spirit leads elsewhere we will go there.

We had about 12 people. What came STRONGLY out of this meeting was each person felt safe to share. Each person, no matter how introverted, shared his or her view on scripture.

PLS note that while we more or less followed this, we did not stick to the time and we overran by several hours. Say NO to the tyranny of time. Literally no one wanted to leave. People enjoyed each others company and enjoyed the peace of Gods Presence.

The meal was a bring and share. Although I had plenty of ideas about how it would work, see below, in reality it was HIGHLY relational and it flowed. Looking over the guidelines below Im not sure how much of those small details happened 🙂

What was called a shabbat meal in March just before Easter became renamed Revival Meetings in May.

Shabbat Meal, fridays
Time: 7pm to 9pm
Preparation: Have order and paper and pens on a center table
Key message:  What is your God given assignment and how can we help each other?

7pm Welcome.
Talk about the journey, vision and order for to tonight
Opening prayer
March 25, 2013 – April 2, 2013: – Passover

7:00 – 7:30 (Not the normal) introduce yourself. Give your name and tell us a bit about what your God given assignment is or what project or vision you have on your heart to do, or what you are currently doing. Big or small it doesnt matter. Mary was a home maker, she raised Jesus Christ – it was a BIG calling.

7:30 – 8:00 ”Snyder” Bible study – Break into small groups. Shabbat means rest… mention that we will read Hebrews 4:10 and Genesis 2:2

First, pray for yourselves and one another to receive revelation from the Holy Spirit
Read the verse, with pen and paper put it into your own words, paraphrase it, not using any of the words currently in the text, then listen to each person’s result in your small group
Discuss as a small group what themes emerged, ie… what might God be saying to us, in what way your life would change personally if you were to take this verse seriously? Share that with your small group

8:00 – 8:15 Communion after a few words from me

8:15 – 9:00 Share the Shabbat meal together. (Hopefully people will connect with someone else if they heard about a project or vision that they also share a passion for.)

9:00 Let people know it is 9pm and if families need to go, pls do so when you are ready

We now go into a time of prayer and invite people to stay and pray together and for one another

9:00 – onwards Open and unstructured prayer.

Pray for this and future events
Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring other people – name them – to be brought in
Pray for revival

Revival has certainly begun

Revival in Cape Town and across the world has begun… more in some places than elsewhere… but it has begun.

This blog is a record of our journey. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit I have begun weekly Friday meetings at my house.

Precious stories and memories are occuring and its good to have a place to record them.

Its also my expectation that what God is doing with sub-divide and multiply… 3000 were added in that day in Acts… worldwide eventually… and to grow we will need many self starting leaders who draw on existing resources. These are those resources.

A place for ideas and experiences and to record the journey.
